If you are in your seventies, we grew up together.
I was born in 1944. Wikipedia says I am not a Baby Boomer if I was born pre-1946. Instead, I’m aligned with my contemporaries in our seventies with an identity that is ours to define.
If you were born on 8/1/47, you are 70 this year, congratulations. If you were born on 1/1/37, you are still in your 70s, congratulations to you too!
You and I were little kids in the 1940s, went to junior high, high school, and first job or college in the ’50s and ’60s. In the 1970s, we set the stage for the direction of our adulthood years. Each of these four decades was uniquely definitive, in our society and in our personal growth.
Yet, I am hoping that my writing will resonate with a wider audience too. If you are in my age group—or the surrounding decades—you will surely recognize the signposts of the journey we share. Regardless of your age or stage, you will see that common principles apply to all of us, including the value of life review, course corrections, mutual support, and resilience as we move forward.
Now, a formative time in our lives has arrived again, but this time we have powerful resources we didn’t have before, our wealth of skills, interests, insight, life experience, support networks, and a history of advocating for humane values.
I’m hoping that my own perspectives will resonate with readers of all generations, and contribute to the valuable dialogue that should continue between us.
Join me to affirm the place where life has taken us, share the life experiences that bond us, and explore ways to enrich these years with vitality and strength. Welcome to my blog!
