Remembering This Day

Dear Readers,

The annual memorial ceremony where the names of all 9/11 victims are read by their families at Ground Zero will be conducted virtually, like most everything else in this pandemic year.

I am re-issuing my piece about my visit to the 9/11 memorial site two years ago for new subscribers who may wish to read it.

You can find it here: https://barrielevine.com/ground-zero/

I share my own experience along with the story of a young woman from North Dakota who lost her life that day.

The journey through our troubled world continues . . . .

  1. Dear Barrie I just read your commemoration piece for the first time. And through my tears read it again. It is starkly beautiful and poignant and constantly current. With appreciation, Barbara Younger (You may add this to the comments on your blog, if you wish)

  2. Dear Barrie-I’m so glad that you reprinted this very moving piece because I did not know of
your blog 2 years ago. I lived on LI & that morning was so especially beautiful with sunny blue skies that I did not turn on my kitchen radio as I usually did so I could soak up the lovely atmosphere. When I finally did, I was horrified at the tragedy of it all. I remember reading the NYT pages covering the lives cut short & being overwhelmed by sadness for victims & those who were left to mourn their terrible loss. You captured the essence of the day we will never forget with your beautiful writing. Thank you for a very moving piece.
