Good Love ❀️ Bad Love πŸ’” and Coffee Beans β˜•οΈ

THE CONNECTING THRILL

OF HELLO BETWEEN LOVERS

BRIEFLY ASTOUNDS THEM

HAIKU (hi-koo’) is a form of Japanese poetry originating in the seventeenth century, usually with focus on an aspect of nature, the seasons, or the human condition. I wrote these pieces in classic haiku style in which there is a grand total of seventeen syllables in each poem, five in the first and last lines, and seven in the middle line β€” a framework of 5 / 7 / 5.

Even when the subject is intense β€” love gained, lost, troubled or forgotten β€” the simple haiku form is space enough for a wide range of emotions.

GOOD LOVE:

Β πŸ’— Β  Β  πŸ’— Β  Β  πŸ’— Β  Β  πŸ’— Β  Β  πŸ’—

SHIFTING INTO DRIVE

CONFIDENT LOVERS EN ROUTE

LEAN INTO THE CURVES

YOUR HEART SPEAKS SOFTLY

IN A GENTLEMANLY WAY

CHARMING! DISARMING!

SAD LOVE, BAD LOVE:

πŸ’” Β  πŸ’” Β  πŸ’” Β  πŸ’” Β  πŸ’”

ON LOVE’S ADVENTURE,

CAREENING ALONG THE RAILS

WE MISSED OUR STATION

MY BLUNT INSTRUMENT

A MALLET CRASHING DOWNWARD

YOU ARE IN THE WAY

HAIKUΒ OF DESPAIR

TO DEPICT LOVE CHOP INTO

SEVENTEEN PIECES

WE EACH STAND OUR GROUND

ACROSS THE YEARS THAT FORMED US

SQUANDERING NEW LIGHT

TRIPTYCH:

πŸšͺ Β  πŸšͺ Β  πŸšͺ

LOVE ENTERS THE ROOM

STEPS UP TO THE LOBBY DESK

AND WAITS TO CHECK IN

LOVE EXITS THE ROOM

FINDING NO COMFORTABLE CHAIR

IT FORFEITS ITS STAY

LOVE ARRIVES LOVE LEAVES

I LOVE THE WAY LOVE LOVED US

FOR ITS DURATION

COFFEETIME STORY:

β˜• Β  β˜• Β  β˜• Β  β˜• Β  β˜•

WE MEET FOR COFFEE

TO REPAIR A PERCEIVED SLIGHT

WITH WARMING LIQUID

IN THE CUP YOU HOLD

FEEL SOUTH AMERICAN SUN

SPREAD BETWEEN YOUR PALMS.

IF YOUR DAY BREAKS YOU

COFFEE THE HEALING AGENT

SOOTHES YOUR DEEP SPACES

WHERE DO WE NEXT MEET

I THINK THERE’S A NEW CAFE

HALFWAY BETWEEN US

HAIKU FINALE:

HAIKU MACHINE SHOP

PRESSING OUT ITS SYLLABLES

ON PINK SUGAR HEARTS

LOVE IN EVERY LINE

I LOVE THE WAY LOVE LOVES US

ELL β€” OH β€” VEE β€” EE β€” LOVE❣

  1. These are amazing. I thought at first they were penned by some famous Japanese master poet. But they’re yours! They’re lovely, even the sad ones.

  3. Lovely! I love your Heikus. My favorite is the coffee one that refers to holding the foreign sun in my palms. Awesome!
